About Me

My Experience

I am a doctor of the English language with a PhD in English Literature from the University of Glasgow. I have taught undergraduate Literature classes at the University of Glasgow for 4 years and I have tutored privately with great success. My student have always achieved high grades - I am particularly proud of my 100% pass rate across all subjects. I generally offer one-to-one support but I can teach group sessions if requested.

In the past year I have placed pupils at Harrow, St Paul’s, and the Perse School and helped 10+ students secure places at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. My GCSE and A-Level tutoring has turned Ds into As and I have helped several undergraduates achieve first class marks in English Literature, Comparative Literature, and Scottish Literature.

My Methodology

My teaching approach depends largely upon the aims of my student. Each class is uniquely tailored to the individual so no two are the same!

For students preparing for examinations, I offer a focused learning plan. We will examine the mark scheme, develop essay plans, analyse quotes, and study advanced writing skills. I have developed my own(board specific) sample exam papers  so I can ensure students are prepared, honed and confident when facing their exams.

For university and pre-university learners, I offer support in thesis development, essays between 1,000-30,000 words, and personal statements.

Regardless of size or level, I am always supportive, encouraging and occasionally challenging to ensure my classes are both enjoyable and useful.
